The illegal wildlife trade is a multi-billion dollar business and the fourth most lucrative transnational crime after drugs, weapons and human trafficking. The DOJ, FBI, NIA, CIA and ICE-HSI recognize the seriousness of wildlife trafficking and that the United States is a source, transit and destination country. While the federal government has banned most international imports and exports of elephant ivory, as well as interstate trade, ivory and rhino horn continue to be sold within 41 U.S. states.
On February 21, 2019 [84.0896 HF 1403 and SF1505] TRADE IN IVORY AND RHINOCEROS HORN PROHIBITED was introduced in Minnesota. Please contact your representatives in the state Senate and House of Representatives in support for these bills and help the prohibition make its way through the state legislative process!
